Shown above is comet NEAT (the first one), named after the Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking program, a special search for fast moving minor bodies that could interfere with the earth. The movement can be seen at the startrails that are due to the telescope guiding on the comet during the 15 minute exposure.

The colors are false colors, i.e. the brightness is encoded in different colors.
